Is Telene® easily paintable?
Telene® is a self-demolding polymer.
Despite this, the surface can be painted without any specific treatment to enhance adhesion.
This is due to the very fast oxidation taking place as soon as the part comes out from the mold.
Typically, painting can be done a few hours after molding. Handling or storage traces (dust, grease, etc.) obviously have to be cleaned: a solvent wipe (IPA or Heptane) can be used. In case of an industrial painting line, the usual power-wash is sufficient. The choice of the paint system is decided primarily by the end user. These have been tested on Telene® by the different suppliers and according to various standards.
